I believe in our Junior College. It is the gateway to upward mobility for thousands of our residents. We have to make sure it remains financially viable, welcoming of diversity and is led with the highest of integrity.
I attended Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) before I graduated from Sonoma State University (SSU). Currently I work for SSU where I run community partnerships and service-learning programs. My job is to connect the community to opportunities in higher education and, similarly, to assist student learning by connecting them to service in our community. Creating opportunities and service is also why I’m running for SRJC Trustee.
My roots in our community run deep. I was Chair of the CALLE commission to recommend reforms in law enforcement, served four years on the Santa Rosa Planning Commission, six years on the Board of Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) and co-founded the Sonoma County Latino Democratic Club. I’m also Board Vice President of KBBF and Co-Chair of Cinco de Mayo in Roseland for the last 15 years.
I’m passionate about community service and education and have been my entire life. Respectfully, I ask for your vote for SRJC Board.
